Playgrounds

Happy National Playground Safety Week! Did you know that part of our safety guidelines in reopening our playgrounds each year include ground compaction? Sometimes our playgrounds look open because the snow and ice have melted off but our closed signs remain. Due to freezing temperatures overnight the ground continues to be really hard which means falling off of our play structures could hurt your little ones more so than in the summer time. This is just one example of the many safety considerations our department takes into consideration each year when opening or closing our parks and facilities. We love that you love our parks and facilities and we want you to be safe while enjoying them. For a full parks and facility status update click here.
