MLPD Station Tour

MLPD Station Tours

MLPD Station tours are a fun way for children to meet law enforcement. Tours include walking through the administration offices, holding cells, sally port, getting their fingerprints done and having Officers discuss safety. Of course, the most popular part of the tour is always inspecting the police vehicle and hearing the siren! If you have a group of children who would like a tour of the police station, please give us a call at (760) 965-3700.

License your Dog

Reasons To License Your Dog

Every person owning a dog six (6) months of age or older must license their dog within 30 days of acquisition or within 30 days of moving to Mammoth Lakes. Licensing is required by State and County Ordinances to control rabies. Licensing provides necessary information to support investigations of cruelty, neglect, abandonment, and dog bites.  A license indicates ownership of a dog and if a dog is found, a license will aid us in getting the dog back to you quickly (other local agencies have also signed on with DocuPet allowing us to share one database). Plus, all license sales will now directly contribute to animal welfare initiatives in Mammoth Lakes. Please visit mammothlakes.docupet.com to purchase or renew your dog license. Read More…

Please Leash and Pick-up After Your Dog

The Mammoth Lakes Police Department has again increased education and enforcement efforts in high-use areas within the Town’s Municipal Boundary. These areas include our many parks, multi-use paths and developed recreation areas, such as Shady Rest Park. Click on the interactive map to view these high-use areas. “We have always had a leash law, typical of most cities in our state,” stated Chief Davis. “The goal of enforcement is to gain compliance. Enforcement can be as simple as a friendly warning or may escalate to a citation, just like all the other laws we enforce.” Read More…

No street parking

Mammoth Lakes Police Department Reminds All Visitors and Residents to Follow Town Parking Laws

Mammoth Lakes is experiencing record visitation, which is impacting available parking, especially near busy ski lifts areas such as Canyon Lodge and The Village at Mammoth. Parking Enforcement Officers are patrolling and issuing citations daily. You can avoid receiving a parking citation by:
  • Not parking at the Lakes Basin’s closed gate at the east end of Lake Mary Rd. unless all 4 of your tires are on dirt/off pavement. Alternatives to accessing recreation in the Lakes Basin during the winter might be taking the Orange Line Shuttle Bus or having someone drop you off. Parking illegally at this gate also impedes emergency vehicle access.
  • Not parking in the “No Parking Zones” on Highway 203, Minaret Rd., Meridian Blvd. near Eagle Lodge and on Hillside Dr., Rainbow Ln., Lakeview Blvd., and Davison Rd. near Canyon Lodge and The Village at Mammoth.
  • Leaving the “Handicap” spaces for drivers with Disabled Person Parking Placards and Plates.
  • Parking facing the correct direction of travel.
  • Only parking in designated spaces while at Shady Rest Park.
  • Not blocking fire hydrants or fire lanes.
