SPECIAL COVID19 INSTRUCTIONS (as of 04/2020):

JOBSITE SAFETY PRACTICES, GUIDANCE AND COUNTY ORDERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY (English)

PRÁCTICAS DE SEGURIDAD EN EL TRABAJO, ORIENTACIÓN Y PEDIDOS DEL CONDADO PARA LA INDUSTRIA DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN (Spanish)

For Questions - Please email buildingtech@townofmammothlakes.ca.gov or call (760) 965-3642 to leave a message and we will respond as soon as possible. Please note that building permit applications and handouts are available on our website here: https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/117/Building-Permit-Applications-and-Fees.

For Permit Requests – Please send completed building permit applications to buildingtech@townofmammothlakes.ca.gov.

Inspections – Please call the Inspection hotline at 760-965-3639. We will strive to provide next day inspection services, but given limited staff and other resources, inspections may be delayed. In the interest of limiting exposure to other individuals, inspections will be bundled together and conducted as needed. This will likely result in inspections occurring 2-3 days per week.

Effective immediately, all building inspections will require that the job site have no people in the building, in the dwelling unit or on the site during the day of a scheduled inspection. This means that not a single person is allowed to physically be on the job site for the entire day of a scheduled inspection. It is not critical that anyone be on the site as inspection staff will have access to approved plans and other pertinent documents to conduct the inspection. This is to reduce the risk of person to person transmission of COVID-19. If it is observed that there is at least one or more person on site at the time of inspection, then the inspection will be cancelled and it will be the applicant’s responsibly to re-schedule the inspection.

For Plan Check services – An electronic submittal is required along with a hardcopy submittal prior to commencing a review. The electronic submittal can be provided in an email as an attachment or link to another service such as Dropbox, or a thumb-drive can be submitted. For the hardcopy submittal, we will require a completed permit application, 3 sets of plans, and 2 sets of other documents (such as structural calculations). We have provided a drop off bin in the hallway outside of the door to our office. Please leave plan checks in the bin and we will pick them up for processing. Plans can also be mailed to:

Permit Issuance - Issuing permits requires coordination at this time. To assist in the process we have listed out 3 steps to complete before you can pick up your permit:

Step 1: The permit document needs to be completed. This can be done electronically and returned via email, or it can be printed-out and returned to the Town Offices (through the drop slot in the front door or left in a box outside the front door). You will receive this permit document after you have successfully submitted your permit application.

Step 2: Payment of permit fees: a check can be dropped-off at the Town Offices through the slot in the front door.

Step 3: Once we have received payment and the signed permit document, the issued permit/inspection card/SITE-approved plans can be placed in the hall outside the front door of the Town Offices for pick-up. We will contact you when this has been done.
